Ison-Britannian Royal Society sanoutuu nyt irti aiemmista, jyrkästi ilmastoalarmistisista näkemyksistään:

Climate change: a summary of the science states that “some uncertainties are unlikely ever to be significantly reduced”. Unlike Climate change controversies, a simple guide — the document it replaces — it avoids making predictions about the impact of climate change and refrains from advising governments about how they should respond.

The new guide says: “The size of future temperature increases and other aspects of climate change, especially at the regional scale, are still subject to uncertainty.”

The Royal Society even appears to criticise scientists who have made predictions about heatwaves and rising sea levels. It now says: “There is little confidence in specific projections of future regional climate change, except at continental scales.”

It adds: “It is not possible to determine exactly how much the Earth will warm or exactly how the climate will change in the future.

“There remains the possibility that hitherto unknown aspects of the climate and climate change could emerge and lead to significant modifications in our understanding.”

University of Californian fysiikan emeritusprofessori Hal Lewisin American Physical Societylle lähettämä eroilmoitus kannattaa lukea. Tässä katkelma siitä:

It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford’s book organizes the facts very well.) I don’t believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.

So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it.

Professori Ian Plimer kommentoi osuvasti Lewisin eroa:

Australian climate sceptic Ian Plimer, from the University of Adelaide, said he was not surprised by Professor Lewis's resignation.

"Only younger people with careers in front of them are afraid to rock the boat," Professor Plimer said.

"Older scientists, near the end of their career, can expose the fools and frauds and blow the whistle that major bodies of information are not appearing in publications," he said.

Ihmeellinen missio kaverilla kyllä on. Tämä touhu alkaa muistuttaa sodankäyntiä, jossa ensimmäinen uhri on tunnetusti totuus. Tämä on huolestuttavaa, koska Wikipedia on nuoremman polven kohdalla pitkälle korvannut tietosanakirjat, jotka sentään vielä toimitettiin asianmukaisesti -- toivottavasti koulussa (ja kodeissa) opetetaan lähdekritiikkiä entistä suuremmalla tarmolla. Kansainvälista arvostusta nauttiva brittiläinen Royal Society lievensi äärialarmistisia ilmastokantojaan, mutta syyllistyi ilmeisesti silti aikamoiseen laskuvirheeseen:

“Current understanding indicates that even if there was a complete cessation of emissions of CO2 today from human activity, it would take several millennia for CO2 concentrations to return to preindustrial concentrations”

Christian Science Monitor on arvostettu lehti - Pulitzerien ajankohdista riippumatta. Olen aikaisemmin asunut pitkään Yhdysvalloissa ja ollut paljon tekemisissÄ maan keskeisten tiedotusvälineiden edustajien kanssa, joten tiedän mistä puhun.

Arvostettu? OK, seitsemän pulizeria, olkoonkin että viimeinen (2002) tuli sarjakuvasta.

Christian Science Monitor on arvostettu lehti - Pulitzerien ajankohdista riippumatta. Olen aikaisemmin asunut pitkään Yhdysvalloissa ja ollut paljon tekemisissÄ maan keskeisten tiedotusvälineiden edustajien kanssa, joten tiedän mistä puhun.

Nimi vähän arvelutti, that's all. Pulizereja ei jaeta aivan mille tahansa julkaisulle, (rauhan) Nobelit ovat vähän politisoituneet (Al Gore & IPCC). Jenkkilehdet lienevät histoallisesti pokanneet niistä leijonanosan, joka varmasti kertoo journalismin korkeasta tasosta.

Ilmeisesti tämä CSM on, kuten monet muutkin julkaisut nettiaikana, aika heikossa hapessa ja ilmestyykin nykyään vain netissä.
